Kara Musa Cami

The mosque is located in Beykapısı Mahallesi and has six inscriptions. Unfortunately, the name "Kara Musa," who had the mosque built and gave it its name, cannot be found in the inscriptions. Because every person who repaired the mosque had his own inscription placed on the structure and had the previous inscription removed. Thus, as in many old mosques in Urfa, the old inscriptions in this mosque have also been lost. In fact, Kara Musa Camii was built in 1552 by a person named Kara Musa. On the inscription below the western window of the mosque, it is written that it was repaired in 1747 (Hijri 1160), but the name of the person who carried out the repair is not given. On the inscription of the last congregation area, it is written that the repair of the mosque was commissioned by Abdurrahman Çelebi, son of Muhammed, in 1671 (Hijri 1082). On the inscription of the western gate of the mosque courtyard and on the western inscription of the minaret base, it is written that it was repaired by Firuz Bey in 1780 (Hijri 1195). On the inscription of the southern gate in the courtyard of the mosque, it is written that Hacı Firuz Bey had Kızıl Camii (Ulu Camii) and Ağ Camii (Nimetullah Cami) repaired, had fountains made for the city, and finally had this mosque repaired. The repair date is given as 1780 (Hijri 1195).

According to what the people say, there used to be a huge pool with a fountain in the mosque courtyard, and the children of the neighborhood used to enter this pool. Later, this pool was also removed. There is a piece of inscription on a column inside the mosque. This piece of inscription, placed upside down, does not have any meaning on its own. It was probably brought from another structure and placed here.
