1898 yılında Sultan II. Abdulhamit zamanında, Saydalı Abdulkadir Seydavi öncülüğünde halk tarafından yaptırılan eski Gümrük Meydanı'ndaki (Günümüzde Ulu Çarşı) Yeni Cami yıktırılmış, yerine büyük ve modern Ulu Cami inşa edilmiştir. Cami üç katlıdır. Zemin katta 2 bin kişilik ibadet mekanı ve son cemaat yeri bulunmaktadır. Ayrıca bodrum katında 400 kişilik konferans salonu olan caminin, iç yüzeyinde ilk defa bu camide uygulanan rumi ve hatai desenli Kütahya çinisi ile profilli ve oymalı ahşap malzeme kullanılmıştır. İbadet mekanına giriş tavanında rumi desenli renkli malakari rölyef uygulanmıştır. Mihrabı çini ve ahşap karışımıdır. Mukarnaslı alçıdan yapılmış olup, üst kavsarasının yüzeyi altın varak kaplanmıştır. İki şerefeli iki minaresi vardır.
