Yeni Cami
It was commissioned in 1843 by Hocazade Hacı Yusuf, one of the ulema. It was damaged and destroyed in the Great Earthquake of 2 March 1893. Of that mosque, only its minaret, which remained intact up to the balcony, has survived to the present day. The present mosque was built in place of the destroyed mosque. Later, an appeal was made to the sultan of the period, Abdülhamit II, and with the sultan’s assistance, its construction was completed and it was opened for service in 1912.
