Construction of the monument located in the square in front of the Vilayet Konağı began in 1946 and was completed in 1947. Its sculptors are Nejat Sirel and Hakkı Atamulu. Antique white stone was used for the pedestal section. On the four facades of the monument are a fully equipped Mehmetçik who participated in the War of Independence, a young athlete holding a discus in his hand, a student with a book in his left hand and a torch in his right hand, female and male farmers in a wheat field, and male figures with a hammer and an anvil.
