Olay, 30 Ağustos 1922 Kütahya - Afyonkarahisar yolunun 10. kilometresinde yer alan Porsuk Köprüsü civarında meydana gelmiştir. Kütahya’daki Mürettep Süvari Tümeni'ne ilaç götüren Tabib Yüzbaşı Hamdi bey ve 158 askeri bu bölgede 53. Yunan Alayı tarafından şehit edilmişlerdir. Bakanlığımızın katkıları ile Kütahya Valiliği ve İl Özel İdaresi tarafından Gediz kavşağındaki tepe üzerine yaptırılmıştır. 30 Ağustos 2010 tarihinde açılmıştır.
