Sultan Sazliği (kuş Cenneti)

70 kilometers from central Kayseri, north of Erciyes, Sultan Sazlığı is almost a paradise for those who want to observe nature, with the approximately 300 bird species and nearly 400 plant species it hosts. Among the birds, including cranes, flamingos and white-headed ducks, some prefer this beautiful wetland as a habitat, some to stop and rest, and some to give birth to their young. You can tour by boat among the reeds and photograph the birds, monuments of grace and delicacy, against a fascinating backdrop created by green, blue and yellow.

In Sultan Sazlığı, a large part of which is covered with reeds, there are places with reed, kafa otu and kındıra. In the lake, in clear weather, there are water lilies and irises, along with many floating reed islets. This freshwater complex is separated in the south and north by Yay Gölü, a salty lake. Within the Central Anatolian steppe ecosystem, it is one of the most important wetlands in our country because of its rich biodiversity and because the two main bird migration routes used by migratory birds between Africa and Europe intersect in this area. Located on the slopes of Erciyes, Sultan Sazlığı, besides its natural beauty, also contributes to the economy of our province in the fields of mat weaving and handicrafts. Our conscious and educated surrounding villagers bring to the country's economy the reeds they produce in autumn and the handicraft products made from reeds.
