Ani Ören Yeri’de yer alan ve bir Zerdüşt tapınağı olduğu düşünülen yapının 1-4. yüzyıllar arasında inşa edilmiş olması muhtemeldir. Böyle ise Ani’deki en eski yapı ve Anadolu’daki ilk Zerdüşt ateşgedesi olma özelliğine sahiptir.
Yapısal özellikleri bakımından kare planlı ve köşelerden yükselen dört sütun üzerinde çatı ile sonlanan bir biçime sahip, bazalt taş bloklardan yapılmıştır. Yapının çevresinde işlevleri tam olarak saptanamayan mekânlar bulunmaktadır.

Yapı bir süre Hristiyanlar tarafından şapel olarak da kullanılmıştır. Yapılan son kazılarda tapınağın yakınında bazı duvar kalıntılarına rastlanmıştır. Bu duvarların ateşgedenin şapele dönüştürülmesi ile yapıldığı düşünülmektedir.
