The building is introduced in some publications under the name "Dündar Bey Hamamı" (Uzunçarşılı 1929: 230-31; Konyalı 1947: (2086), and in others under the name "Aşağı Hamam" (Yiğitbaşı 1972: 47- 48). Among the public, the building is also called "Çarşı Hamamı" because it is located in Çarşı Mahallesi.

The building, which has no inscription or waqf deed, is stated in publications to have been commissioned by Dündar Bey in the year 707 h/ 1307- 08 M., according to the construction inscription given in those publications. The patron of the hamam, Dündar Bey, was one of the founders of the Hamidoğulları Beyliği, which was active around Isparta and Antalya. As a result of research conducted in the Vakıf Kayıtlar Arşivi, it was stated that no record was found regarding "Esma Sultan Hamamı (Dündar Bey)" in Eğirdir District, Isparta Province. However, in the attachment to the letter sent in 2014 by the Kültür ve Tescil Daire Başkanlığı, prepared upon the request of Eğirdir Belediyesi, it was determined in the ilam dated 1320 H. (1920 M.) prepared regarding the hamam in question that "Hızır Bey had one waqf hamam in the town of Eğirdir.

Dündar Bey (Esma Sultan) Hamamı, with restoration works started in 2013 and completed in 2014, was restored to a condition faithful to its original and is still actively used as a hamam.
