It was commissioned by Nuri Mehmet Paşa. There are also two more inscriptions in the mosque, dated 1785 on the minaret and 1834 on the mihrab. The mosque has lost its originality through repairs carried out in different periods. It was damaged during the French occupation of Gaziantep, was used for a while as a military depot after the occupation, was used as a museum between 1958 - 1968 after the proclamation of the Republic, was later repaired and opened for worship as a mosque.
