Büdeyri Han

Büdeyri Han is estimated to have been built in the same years as Kürkçü Hanı, dated 1890, due to the similarity in plan and decoration. For these reasons, Büdeyri Han is thought to have been built in the late 19th century. Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality falls within the group of single-courtyard, two-storey inns in Ottoman inn architecture. The work, which incorporates many features of classical Ottoman inn architecture, was built in two sections, namely a soapworks and an inn.

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality

It belongs to the group of single-courtyard, two-storey inns within Ottoman inn architecture. Bringing together many features of classical Ottoman inn architecture, the work was built in two sections, namely a soapworks and an inn. The spaces on the upper floor of both sections were built for travelers to stay in.

Although the soapworks and the inn each have an independent main entrance gate, they are connected to each other by an intermediate passage on the second floor. With this plan feature, it is unique among the inns in Gaziantep. On the ground floor of the inn, around an almost square open courtyard inside, various spaces are arranged, while on the front facade there are single-storey shops opening outward.

Behind the spaces on the east is a two-part stable. The soapworks section surrounds the inner courtyard, which has a slightly irregular rectangular plan, with a portico on the north and east sides, and the other spaces also open onto this volume. The top of the courtyard was covered with tiles from above so that the soapworks would be cleaner.

Having undergone various restorations, the building is currently used as a place with cafes and shops selling local products.
