Türbenin ismi halk arasında Cimcime Hatun olarak bilinmektedir. Konuyla ilgili Osman Turan’ın Doğu Anadolu Türk Devletleri Tarihi adlı eserinde Cimcime Sultan Kümbetinin Tuğrul Bey Dönemi fâtihlerinden Cemcem’e ait olduğu bilgisi verilmektedir. Abdurrahim Şerif Beygu Erzurum Tarihi, Anıtları, Kitabeleri adlı eserinde ise kümbetin isminin, tarihe geçmeyen Erzurum emirlerinden birine ait olduğunu söylemektedir.
Düzgün kesme taş malzemeyle inşa edilen yapı silindirik kaideli, içten ve dıştan silindirik gövdelidir. İçten kubbe, dıştan konik bir külahla örtülüdür.
Mezarlarda yatan kişilerin isimlerinin yazılı olduğu taşların bir kısmı yok olmuştur. Yalnız birinin baş taşının iç kısmının yazılı dua bölümünden, bir kadına ait olduğu anlaşılmaktadır.
