As understood from the inscription on the tomb, its architect was Ebü’n-Nemâ b. Mufaddal of Ahlat. This monumental funerary structure consists of two different parts, the tomb and the enclosing wall.

The caravanserai, an important part of the group of structures, was built at the beginning of the XIIIth century. Belonging to the group of concentric caravanserais, the structure, with its dimensions of 51×51 metres, is the largest among this group (the others are Alara Han, Ashâb-ı Kehf Hanı). The square-planned structure was built entirely of cut stone. The outer walls were reinforced with cylindrical towers at the four corners and buttresses with semicylindrical or rectangular sections on the facades. In the middle of the east facade there is a portal projecting outward.
At the corners of the portal there is a small column each and a niche on each side. In the interior reached through the low-arched door, around the wide central courtyard are rooms and iwans, and in the northern and southern parts of these spaces there is a stable section placed along the length of the structure.
The rectangular-planned bath between the tomb and the caravanserai is small in scale. To the west there is a rectangular changing room covered with a pointed-arched vault. In the middle of the space there is a hexagonal pool. The hot room section of the structure, which has a square-planned and domed warm room section, is also rectangular-planned and covered with a vault and a dome.
The mosque mentioned among the complex structures has been completely altered, and a new mosque has been built in place of the demolished structure.
