In the works titled Osmanlı Müellifleri, Sefînet-ül-Evliyâ, and Esmâ-ül-Müellifîn, it is written that he was born in Erzurum, while in some other works, it is written that he was born in Erzincan. He died in Erzincan in 1847 (H.1264). He was buried in the place where his dervish lodge was located.
