Researchers cannot give a definite date as to when Ulu Camisi, located on Osmancık Caddesi, was built. However, it is learned from sources that it was commissioned by Hayrettin Hazır, the freed slave of the Seljuk Sultan Alaeddin Keykubat. Nevertheless, based on its minbar, which is an extremely important work in terms of wood craftsmanship, it has been suggested that it was built in the late Seljuk period. It has been dated to the late 18 century and the beginning of the 19.century. However, it is also disputed whether this minbar is connected with the mosque. It has also been suggested that the minbar was brought to the mosque after its construction.
