ADATEPE Ege Denizinin doğu kıyısında,İda Dağının batı yamaçlarında,Edremit Körfezinin kuzey ucunda bulunmaktadır. Yerleşim antik çağlarda başlamış, İliada destanında "Gargaros"olarak adıgeçen bölgededir ve yerleşim günümüzde de sürmektedir. Köyün bulunduğu bölge Truva , Leleg, Midilli, Pers, Atina, Roma, Selçuklu, Osmanlı hakimiyetleri görmüş ve bunların izlerini taşımaktadır. Yüzyılların birikiminin oluşturduğu taş işçiliğinin örnekleri köyde mevcut binalarda görülmektedir.
