Karamanoğullarından Yahşi Bey tarafından 14.yy. da yaptırılmıştır. 20.yy başlarına kadar Medrese olarak işlevini sürdürmüş, 1940 yılından itibaren bir süre cezaevi olarak kullanılmıştır. 1969 yılından itibaren Müze olarak faaliyet gösteren Medrese, 1975 ve 1992- 93 yıllarında küçük çapta yapılan onarımlardan sonra 1997 yılında yeniden restorasyon geçirmiştir.
