Mevlevilik was first introduced to Tokat while Hazreti Mevlana was still alive, when, upon the request of Muineddin Süleyman Pervane, he sent his khalifa named Fahreddini Iraki to Tokat, and Mevlevilik began to spread in Tokat in the zaviye built by Pervane in the 13th century. This zaviye was probably destroyed at the end of the 15th century during Uzun Hasan’s burning of Tokat, and for the second time it was built in 1638 on the plot at the entrance of Bey Sokağı by the Janissary agha Sülün Mustafa Paşa during the reign of Sultan III. Ahmed. This structure has not survived in its entirety to the present day. The Mevlana bath next to it, which is today in private ownership, the stone gate at the entrance, and the bath in the mansion and the room adjoining it have remained from that period
