It was commissioned in 1637 by Bosnalı Mustafa Paşa, the silahdar of IV. Murat, in Alacakapı Mahallesi of Battalgazi District. It was built on a rectangular area measuring 68x76 metres, as an open courtyard and a covered hall. A room can be seen on both sides of the arched entrance gate. Above this gate, one reaches a section thought to have been a mescit, accessed by stairs within the wall. On the side of the hall facing the courtyard and on both sides of the entrance, six rooms in a row, covered with vaults, are arranged. The main covered section is roofed with three rows of vaults. The vaults rest on plain supports.
The architect of the structure is Üstat Ebubekir, son of Üstat Mehmet, the Chief Architect of Aleppo. Located on the roads leading to the East, this caravanserai is important in terms of showing the commercial density of the city. The han, which had a military function as well as a commercial one, was built on a very solid foundation. It is a structure in which shops lined up on a single line are arranged in the form of a külliye. The han has two inscriptions. One is above the door of the inner han entrance, and the other is above the courtyard entrance gate. In the restoration carried out between 2007-2010, the shops surrounding the front façade of the caravanserai were removed, and the mescit section, the revaks, the pool section and the walls were restored. The caravanserai is open to visitors every day of the week between 09.00-17.00.
