The area where the Taşkapı ruins are located covers an area 1.500 meters long and 500 meters wide. The entrance gate made of large block stone, which forms a whole with the rusticated city walls at the entrance of the city, is known among the local people as Taşkapı. The city walls built with the rusticated masonry technique show Hellenistic Period characteristics. The entrance road is arranged with steps carved into the bedrock. After the entrance called Taşkapı, there is a large square. After this point, dense maquis vegetation appears. However, it is difficult to obtain definite information about the settlement area, which has been damaged by natural conditions and illegal excavations.
Within the Taşkapı settlement area, spaces carved into the bedrock and making themselves evident with beam holes, and the city walls on Asartepe, the highest point of the settlement, dated to the Late Roman - Early Byzantine period, show that an inner fortress developed in this area for defensive purposes. Roman and Byzantine period ceramics, mostly with the characteristics of kitchenware, are seen intensively in the area, and throughout the settlement area a development extending from the Hellenistic Period to the Byzantine Period is observed.
