Eğirdir Hanı, located in Yeni Mahalle, bears the characteristics of classical Seljuk inns. The structure, located on the lakeshore 3 kilometres south of the district centre, is one of the largest Anatolian Seljuk caravanserais. The structure on the Konya-Antalya caravan route consists of two sections: a courtyard and an enclosed space. Both sections have been destroyed. The east wall of the courtyard has disappeared, the coverings of the other surviving outer walls have been stripped, and for this reason the walls have become considerably thinner. Water seeping into the exposed rubble stone masonry causes the walls to deteriorate further.
Eğirdir Hanı was commissioned by II. Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev in 1237. The inn, built in 1237, lost its function after a short period of 64 years due to a fire. The history of the inn is not known with certainty. As a result of the excavations carried out in the caravanserai in 1993, the geometrically decorated stone piece that was uncovered fit exactly into the broken place in the frame border of the left mihrabiye in the portal of Dündarbey Medresesi, and the composition was completed. It has thus been established with certainty that during the construction of Dündarbey Medresesi in 1301, the portal was dismantled from the inn and moved, and therefore the construction date of the inn was 1237, as stated on the portal.
