In the Ancient City of İssos (Epiphaneia), located in the Gözeneler area of Erzin District, rescue excavations first began in 2006, and the work continued in 2008, 2010 and 2011. The excavation work was initially planned as a mosaic rescue excavation belonging to the Late Roman Period, but was later expanded to include the excavation of a bath belonging to the Late Roman Period. The heating sections of the bath belonging to the Late Roman Period, the pool, water systems, shops and mosaics belonging to Artemis were uncovered. In the work carried out in 2011, the foundations of structures belonging to the Abbasid Period to the west of the bath began to be uncovered. The exact foundation date of the Ancient City of İssos is not known
