The Dülük Mithras Temple was uncovered in 1997-1998 as a result of excavations carried out with the participation of Gaziantep Archaeology Museum and Germany’s Münster University. It is the first Mithras Underground Temple found in Anatolia. Under the coordination of Şehitkamil Municipality and Gaziantep Archaeology Museum, the Mithras Temple was arranged, lighting was provided, and walking paths were created. The opposite slopes of Keber Tepesi are the necropolis (cemetery) area of the ancient settlement. There are many rock-cut chamber tombs here. Inside the tombs, there are sarcophagi with reliefs on religious and mythological subjects.
In scientific excavations carried out on Keber Tepesi in Dülük, flint tools belonging to the Lower Paleolithic Period and the workshops where these tools were made were found. “Şarklı Mağara,” which was used for shelter in the same period, also dates to 600 thousand BC. In the Byzantine Period, the City of Dülük maintained its status as a sacred city, which had continued since the Hittites, through the Archbishopric. After the Islamic raids, it was heavily damaged, and with the Archbishopric being moved to Zeugma in the 7th century, it lost its status as a religious center.
