Oltu ilçesinde, Oltu Çayı kıyısındaki tepe üzerinde bulunan kale M.Ö IV. Yüzyılda yapılmıştır. Kale Bizans, Selçuklu, Akkoyunlu, Karakoyunlu ve Osmanlı dönemlerinde onarılmıştır. Ancak bu onarımları belirten bur kitabe günümüze gelememiştir. Osmanlı döneminde bir süre kervansaray olarak da kullanılmıştır. Oltu Kalesi kesme taştan yapılmış ve 3000 m2’lik bir alana yayılmıştır. Günümüze dış kale ile surları gelememiştir. Bugün yalnızca iç kale görülebilmektedir. Kalenin kuzeyindeki iki burçtan biri türbe olarak kullanılmıştır.
