Çayağzı Village Orhangazi Mosque is known to be a place where Orhan Gazi, one of the founders of the Ottoman State, came and stayed (1323 AD), and where he also had a mosque built bearing his own name. This cultural heritage, recorded as Sultan Orhan Camii Şerifi, was restored by the General Directorate of Foundations in 2007 and reopened for worship and visits. Built 687 years ago without nails, by interlocking long logs with the çantı technique, the turbaned gravestones in the area where the Ottoman Masjid stands also attract attention.

In wooden architecture, a rectangular frame formed with the çandı technique by carving deep notches into logs or timber creates a kind of foundation. Structures built without a foundation are reinforced by placing the frames on large stones. The complete absence of nails is known as the greatest feature of these structures. In the çandı method, nails are not preferred so that the timber is more durable and long-lasting.
