Çardak Kervansarayı üzerindeki yedi satır kitabesine göre, Alaeddin Keykubat zamanında, onun azadlı kölesi ve emirlerinden Esededdin Ayaz bin Abdullah el Şahabi tarafından yaptırılmıştır. 1230 yılı Ramazan ayında bitirilmiş ve kitabesine göre “Ribat” olarak yapılmıştır. Doğu-batı doğrultusunda inşa edilen han, oldukça geniş kare avlusu ve altı bölümlü, beş sahından oluşan holü ile sultan hanlarının sadeleşmiş bir benzerini oluşturmaktadır. Kapalı mekan doğu-batı ekseninde dikdörtgen planlıdır. Derinlemesine dört sıra halinde ve her bir sırada beşer paye kullanılması ile beş sahın oluşturulmuştur. Dinar İlçesi'ne bağlı olduğu dönemlerde Hanabat ismiyle bilinen han, Kurtuluş Savaşı sırasında da zahire ambarı olarak kullanılmıştır.
