Sultan I. Murat’ın annesi Nilüfer Hatun’un anısına 1388 yılında imarethane olarak inşa edilmiştir. Cumhuriyet döneminde değişik gereksinmeler için depo olarak kullanılan bina, onarım görmüş ve 1960 yılında müze olarak ziyarete açılmıştır. 14. yüzyıl Osmanlı mimarisinin güzel örneklerinden biridir. Osmanlı mimarisinde “T” planı ilk kez bu yapıda görülmektedir. Kubbe ve tonoz kemerlerin örttüğü revakla başlayan yapının giriş kapısında kitabe mevcuttur. Kubbe ile örtülü ana bölümden yan mekânlara geçilir. Bizans’a özgü zengin ve renkli taş ve tuğla işçiliği ile yapılmıştır. Müzede İznik çevresinden toplanan prehistorik dönemden Osmanlı dönemine kadar olan çeşitli eserler yer almaktadır.
