Doğubayazıt ilçe merkezinin 35 kilometre doğusunda, Gürbulak gümrük kapısının yaklaşık 2 kilometre kuzeydoğusunda bulunmaktadır. 1988 Yılında Erzurum Kültür Varlıkları Koruma Bölge Kurulunca tescillenmiş 2'nci derece doğal sit alanıdır.
Karstik çöküntü olup derinliği 60 metre, çapı ise 35 metredir. Yöre halkı arasında 1892 yılında gece büyük bir göktaşının düştüğü, sarsıntı meydana geldiğini ve Gülveren Köyü'nün su kaynaklarının bulanık aktığı söylenmektedir.
Önemli bir turizm potansiyeline sahiptir. Her yıl binlerce turist tarafından ziyaret edilmektedir.
