Doğubayazıt, 1514 Çaldıran Savaşı’ndan sonra I.Selim zamanında Osmanlı topraklarına katılmış, Doğubayazıt Kalesi'nin hemen yanında, merkezi kubbeli ve tek minareli cami de o dönemde yapılmıştır. Caminin yer aldığı yamaç düzeltildikten sonra, duvar örülmek suretiyle düz bir teras oluşturulmuş ve üzerinde bu camii inşa edilmiştir. Kesme taştan yapılan bu camii, 15–20x15-20 metre boyutlarında, kara planlı ve tek kubbelidir. Tarihi caminin giriş kapısı, beden duvarları, mihrabı, son cemaat yeri, mihrabiyeleri, duvar payeleri, kubbeye geçiş sistemleri, duvarlardaki kemerler, pencereler ve minarenin yapımında bir sadelik göze çarpar.
