The following legend is told about the hot spring known popularly as ESİRE. It is known that in the historic Eğrigöz Castle on Eğrigöz Mountain, located to the southwest of the Emet district, the Hungarian Emperor known in history as Kazıklı Voyvoda was imprisoned. According to the legend, because the conditions in which the prisoners held in the historic Eğrigöz Castle were very poor, leprosy was commonly seen among the prisoners. A prisoner who contracted leprosy, which at that time could not be treated, thinking that salvation could only come through death, wanted to die by throwing himself into the river called Kocaçay, which passed near the castle and into which hot water also mixed. But the prisoner does not die. While trying to escape by swimming against the direction of the river's flow, he notices that the water is gradually getting warmer. Taking advantage of the darkness of the night, he decides to spend the night in this water. The prisoner, sick and exhausted, stays where the hot waters emerge. After a while, he notices that his illness has healed. Thereupon, he gives up escaping and returns to the castle again, and by telling the castle commander what happened to him, he enables the other prisoners to find healing from this hot water as well. From that day on, this place was called ESİR HAMAMI, but this name changed over time and has come down to the present day as ESİRE. Even today, this place where the hot waters are found is called ESİRE KAPLICALARI.
