Maraş, M.Ö. 64’te Romalıların eline geçmiş ve Roma İmparatoru Gaisus Caesar Agustus Germanicus’un adı şehre verilerek “Kaiseria Germanicia” olarak adlandırılmıştır. Dulkadiroğlu İlçesi Karamaraş Mevkii'nde yer alan, 2007 yılı Ağustos ayında yapılan kaçak kazı ihbarı neticesinde başlatılan çalışmalarla ortaya çıkarılan Germanicia Antik Kenti taban mozaikleri ile ilgili çalışmalar devam etmektedir. Çağın Latince, Grekçe ve Arapça kaynaklarından anlaşıldığına göre Germanicia Mozaikleri, Geç Roma ve Erken Bizans Dönemine aittir.
