It was commissioned by Gaius Julius Aguilla in the name of the Roman Emperor Tiberius Germanicus Claudius between A.D. 41–54. The monument, known to be the only one of its kind in Anatolia, consists of a headless statue with a human figure carved into the rocks, a Roman eagle figure symbolizing sovereignty, and two inscriptions.
