Established on the foothills of the mythological Ida Mountain, Tahtakuşlar Ethnography Museum is a Unesco-awarded place that reveals the culture and art of the Turkmens. 6 km. after Akçay, when you turn onto the Çamlıbel road, the left road takes you to Tahtakuşlar, and the right road takes you to Çamlıbel. Then, 1-2 km. later, when you enter Tahtakuşlar Village, the Ethnography Gallery appears before you. Founded by Alibey Kudar, the gallery is also Turkey's first private ethnography museum, opened in 1991, and at the same time the art gallery opened in 1992 and established for the first time in a village in Turkey. In the gallery, the interesting and original cultural assets of the Turkish tribes that migrated from Central Asia to Turkey, clothing, household goods, tools, carpets and tents, all kinds of works of art, manuscripts, necklaces, amulets...etc., together with the world's largest leatherback sea turtle on display, are exhibited throughout the year.
